The first monday night in May is the annual plant exchange at Martindale Mennonite Church in Martindale, Pa. I have been hosting this exchange for several years now and this year the theme was on Composting. If you've never been to a perennial exchange , you're missing out ! It's a great way to share the extra plants in your garden with others and get some new plants for yourself. Everyone brings plants that are potted or in bags and labeled with as much info as you know, like height, bloom time, etc. When you come you place your plants into the correct catagories - perennial, annual, shrub/tree, ground covers, herbs, etc.
Lots of perennials for sun!
Sitting under the carport listening to our guest speaker.
Ray Leiby, a master gardener spoke on composting.
Ray showing a model of a composting bin. He showed us what to use in a compost bin and also what to avoid in order to create the rich black 'gold' called compost !
This little girl was sharing dandelions with everyone while Ray was speaking.
She would walk arround asking the ladies " do you have one?"
Then it was time to exchange plants !
Picking out some new perennials !! Mark your calenders for next year and send me an email if you would like to be notified with all the info next year ! If you would like to attend another plant exchange this year, please come to the Annual plant exchange at Ephrata Mennonite School on Thurs. May 12, at 1pm. More info in the Shopping News or call or email me.
Hmmm...that little girl comes up with more ways of getting attention than anyone I know. :) Thanks for another great plant exchange. We always enjoy it!
